Babs Carryer

Babs is President of Carryer Consulting, providing strategic marketing and business planning services to technology companies and organizations in the software and life sciences sectors. In addition to over 10 years of marketing consulting, Babs is widely experienced in the startup community, having been involved with hundreds of early-stage companies seeking financing, growth, or acquisition partners.

She is president and CEO of RemComm, Inc., a software company which provides reliable data transfer and data management in the absence of commercial power, internet, telephone, and cellphone service. In September, Babs was deployed with the RemComm team by the Salvation Army to assist with providing emergency communications in the area affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Babs is founding CEO of MIDASBio, a startup specialty reference laboratory based on proprietary panels of cancer biomarkers and focusing on ovarian cancer for its first diagnostic test. Previously, Babs founded and was president of LaunchCyte LLC, a development company that creates, seeds, and harvests life sciences innovations from leading research universities across the U.S.

Babs has a Masters in Management from Carnegie Mellon University, and teaches Entrepreneurship there at the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship, housed within the Tepper School of Business, and at the Heinz School. Babs also teaches entrepreneurial commercialization of new technologies at the University of Pittsburgh's Office of Enterprise Development.

Tim Carryer

In charge of communications and design at Carryer Consulting, Tim designs presentations and business plans, web solutions, and strategic marketing materials. He assists clients in presenting their overall business vision and strategy in the most effective manner possible, using a variety of multimedia applications.

Tim has worked with a wide range of clients, from manufacturing to high tech, helping articulate their business opportunity. He has a background in the arts which gives him the creativity and skills to create the most innovative solutions for clients.

Tim has a Masters degree in Human Computer Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in Playwriting and Directing, also from CMU.
