Babs Carryer
Babs has been President of Carryer Consulting for 15 years, providing strategic marketing and business planning services to technology companies and organizations in the software and life sciences sectors. Babs is widely experienced in the start-up community, having been involved with hundreds of early-stage companies seeking financing, growth, or acquisition partners.
Babs is currently director of deal flow for BlueTree Allied Angels. She is also embedded entrepreneur for Project Olympus, which was founded within the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University to stimulate commercialization of new technologies.
Babs co-founded, was past president, and still serves as a consultant and board director of LaunchCyte LLC (www.launchcyte.com), a development company that creates, seeds, and harvests life sciences innovations from leading research universities across the U.S. Currently, LaunchCyte has six life sciences portfolio companies, with a combined value of approximately $200 million.
Babs has a Masters in Management from Carnegie Mellon University, and teaches Entrepreneurship there at the Don Jones Center for Entrepreneurship, housed within the Tepper School of Business. She also teaches Entrepreneurship at the Heinz School at CMU as part of the Masters of Information Systems (MISM), the Masters of Entertainment Industry Management (MEIM), and the Masters of Medical Management (MMM) programs. Additionally, Babs teaches new technology commercialization through the University of Pittsburgh’s Offices of Enterprise Development and Technology Management. Recently, Babs was the Bishoff entrepreneur in residence at Penn State University.
Tim Carryer
In charge of communications and design at Carryer Consulting, Tim designs presentations and business plans, web solutions, and strategic marketing materials. He assists clients in presenting their overall business vision and strategy in the most effective manner possible, using a variety of multimedia applications.
Tim has worked with a wide range of clients, from manufacturing to high tech, helping articulate their business opportunity. He has a background in the arts which gives him the creativity and skills to create the most innovative solutions for clients.
Tim has a Masters degree in Human Computer Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in Playwriting and Directing, also from CMU.
